The Battle of Crecy animated like you've never seen before! Join King Edward III and his valiant son, the Black Prince, as they lead the English forces against the might of the French army during the Hundred Years' War. In the video I tried to depict the action and moments of heroism that defined the conflict, to the best of my abilities. My animation attempts to vividly portray the chaos and intensity of battle, offering a glimpse into the bravery and sacrifice of soldiers on both sides. It is an attempt not only to tell the story of the battle but in a way make you participate in it as a spectator !

📌The Battle of Crécy took place on 26 August 1346 in northern France between a French army commanded by King Philip VI and an English army led by King Edward III. The French attacked the English while they were traversing northern France during the Hundred Years' War, resulting in an English victory and heavy loss of life among the French.
The English army had landed in the Cotentin Peninsula on 12 July. It had burnt a path of destruction through some of the richest lands in France to within 2 miles (3 km) of Paris, sacking many towns on the way. The English then marched north, hoping to link up with an allied Flemish army which had invaded from Flanders. Hearing that the Flemish had turned back, and having temporarily outdistanced the pursuing French, Edward had his army prepare a defensive position on a hillside near Crécy-en-Ponthieu. Late on 26 August the French army, which greatly outnumbered the English, attacked.
During a brief archery duel a large force of French mercenary crossbowmen was routed by Welsh and English longbowmen. The French then launched a series of cavalry charges by their mounted knights. These were disordered by their impromptu nature, by having to force their way through the fleeing crossbowmen, by the muddy ground, by having to charge uphill, and by the pits dug by the English. The attacks were further broken up by the effective fire from the English archers, which caused heavy casualties. By the time the French charges reached the English men-at-arms, who had dismounted for the battle, they had lost much of their impetus. The ensuing hand-to-hand combat was described as "murderous, without pity, cruel, and very horrible." The French charges continued late into the night, all with the same result: fierce fighting followed by a French retreat.

The Battle of Tours, also called the Battle of Poitiers and, by Arab sources, the Battle of the Highway of the Martyrs (Arabic: معركة بلاط الشهداء, romanized: Maʿrakat Balāṭ ash-Shuhadā'),was fought on 10 October 732, and was an important battle during the Umayyad invasion of Gaul. It resulted in the victory for the Frankish and Aquitanian forces, led by Charles Martel, over the invading forces...
Can u make The Battle of Narva??
I’m watching this one month after the D-Day anniversary. It’s my first look at this battle and the campaign, and I’m struck by the similarities.
“Calvary?” 00:30
english rulers at that time were bascially french
0:26 it's cavalry not calvary. Cavalry means horses. Calvary is where Jesus died.
Be honest, you played that battle in Medieval Total War 2
Lucky for that Dane at 10:00 that the enemy AI made them attack one at a time!
As long as there are 100 of us...hmm? Scotland is becoming a refugee camp. 100 of what?
Thought this was a game, how disappointing (sick animation btw, congrats !)
Thank you very much! Yes, it's not a game, unfortunately. At its current state my battle system can't be converted into a game. It won't be playable. Getting a frame per minute isn't very playable! hahaha
Make it England!
"Sterling" really?
Most accounts of Bannockburn describe the Schiltrons as being Circular and static rather than moving. They were a defensive formation against cavalry,
The sound is horrid
"You fought for Wallace. Now fight for me!"
Stunning thank you
Thank you for watching!
All them tree huggers you get these days won't be happy
Don’t think the battle was as you show it 🤔
How does it differ? This is a recreation according to the latest information I could find about the battle.
@@historybattles3D The battle wasn’t fought on open ground,Bruce new he couldn’t take on heavy horses He funnelled them in to charging the chiltrons ,horses reared at the pikes, dislodged the nights, and left them defenceless, killed off by the Scottish warriors That’s the best on I’ve read over the years (The brave heart thing 👎🏻)
The berserker on the bridge must have made a nice tentative POV to the victors tale
William the bastard
It's Stirling not Sterling
Both the map and the subtitles are describing it as "Stirling". Only the cut-scene is misspelled.
@@historybattles3D no worries, pal. great video btw.
@@basedscotsman8142 Thank you very much!
This narration is painful!!! Use a person or do some research for heavens' sake! The visuals are amazing but are seriously let down by horrific pronunciation. One example. Reading is pronounced reding NOT reeding! I noticed on your Bannockburn video a similar issue. There have NEVER been lootenants in UK forces, they're leftenants! Even though it's spelled lieutenant! C'mon folks, you've put a massive amount of work into the visuals and they're fabulous. Don't spook the ship for a hapeth of tar! (to coin a phrase).
Oh. By the way, why no shield-walls?
It's pronounced reading in America. And if You're calling us folks then You can't have much of a problem with it because I know You ain't from England lol
....Sterling Castle?....is that Sterling Tillicoutry Nr Stirling....🤣😂...ah'm Scottish btw 😉...IYKYK
The text describes it as "Stirling Castle". The map has an inscription that says "Stirling". I think the only misspelling was during the cut-scene of the siege.
@@historybattles3D 🤣😂 ah'm only messin' wie ye min...It's an 'in' joke up here in Perthshire/Fife.
NIce. Probem: they make one step but cover cca 1,5 meters.
Bro, I gotta say this to your because everyone else is too focused on the good things about these videos (and I agree withy them), but you gotta get rid of the constant facial movements. Still as a statue would be INFINITELY better. Love the videos anyway bud
I'm not using these animations anymore. Even though I appreciate the feedback. Believe me, videos with few views like this one have a far more positive audience. The videos with many views are far from getting exclusively positive feedback... haha
@@historybattles3D Yeah I posted this comment and then forgot to delete it when I went and watched some of your more recent videos lol. LOVE what you're doing with this channel and I can't wait to see more!
Scone is pronounced skoon for the town and skon for the delicacy. Berwick is Berrick and one of the most interesting towns in Britain as it has changed hands between Scotland and England so often and was once left in the position of being officially at war with Russia (or the USSR in the 1960s). Thankfully for the Rooskis, a peace treaty was signed!
Utter bollocks description of the battle.
When we we learn wars is bad, all about money,
My only complaint is there are too many swordsmen and hardly any spearmen.
Yes you are right, that bothered me also. The reason why Spearmen are hardly present in this video is because back then I wasn't able to find appropriate Spear-Shield animations. But this is an older version of my system. I do include Spearmen and spear animations in the latest videos.
@@historybattles3D Given what you had to work with, it was still really good
Very nice. You spelled Christmas wrong.
When Harold got an arrow in his eye, he turned to the man next to him and said, "You know what, I can't see the point of all this.".😂
Thank you! This was excellent! The only thing I'd have loved to see and didn't (albeit minor) is a speculative look at the scar on Henry V's cheek. 😊
Good story but geography is well out. Argyll is not Ayrshire, Dumbarton is not Carrick etc etc.
These story’s always change when it’s either a Scotsman or a n Englishman who’s telling the tale.. the last I checked and knew that Wallace didn’t just get beaten just like that.. the English fucking struggled with that mofo that’s a fact it wasn’t just a trek up to Scotland to kill Jim just like that, no they had to trick Wallace and capture him to defeat him or they just wouldn’t have defeated him as he had every English surrounding country on his side, but yeah whatever you narrate is what happened eh!
King Henry V with a tired and hungry army: I did it? French Lord: He did it King Charles VI: He did it
This video is wrong , plenty of mistakes. Ayrshire is not in argyle as shown, etc etc
The entire video is wrong then?
Shiltron’s were circular.. not square..
That's debatable. It's not entirely clear what was the shape of Schiltrons when on the move. Static schiltrons might have been circular indeed but moving schiltrons probably not.
Commentary not good as Scottish words mispronounced; graphics were excellent.
Sûre maybe the conquérant and tactique as iskender Magnus but because son of Robert the throne was only his due ....
The more battles you do, the more impressive they are. I first saw the Battle of Hastings last year and was really struck by how vibrant the battle was and by its sheer magnitude. But, somehow, you managed to outdo yourself in an even bigger battle, that of Crécy. I can't wait to see Poitiers, but I hope we'll also see the French victories. Unfortunately too many UA-cam channels only cover the English victories because they have been made famous around the world thanks to the influence of Anglo-American culture since the last century, which almost makes us forget that in the end, the Hundred Years' War was won by the French house of Valois, which even precipitated England into its own war of succession. So it would be nice to see the battles that the French won, because as history shows us, they were more decisive than those of Crecy, Poitiers and Agincourt. Furthermore, it would allow us to see the war from the French side, which was missing until now in your yet brilliant videos. Thanks guys for your hard work, keep it up! I would add that I'd love to see an animation of the famous Battle of Bouvines!
Wow, thank you so much for the wonderful feedback! I'm trying as hard as I can to improve with each video, even a little bit. Glad that you noticed, because Crecy especially was the hardest to make given the complexity and the number of different units involved. I intend to cover the entire Hundred Years War. I will just give you my honest reasoning on how I choose battles to make. Apart from battles that I'm more familiar with I also choose topics that I research for popularity. I'm trying to make the topic that I feel will be more popular so I prioritize popularity. This is because my channel is still relatively new and because the amount of time I spent on making each video doesn't allow much gambling. Crecy for eg, even though I hoped that would perform somewhat well, it actually performed extremely bad. For me this means that I probably waisted 2.5 months of work. So, the order of making videos will be more popular and known topics followed by slightly less known topics. That's why I'm initially making the famous Hundred Years War battles.
The new historical theory is that it was far less the vaunted victory of the Welsh Longbowman and much more a kind of football ⚽ Stadium crush up driven by sticky mud suck and French desire for ran$om 🤷🤣🤯🤡😂🥳
Were did they to the bathroom 🚻 😂
I’m Scottish from Dundee. Bannockburn is probably just over an hours drive from here and I’ve actually never been. Great video. Very well put together.
Cool, thanks!
Excellent video 🏴.
Thanks 👍
I always find the reality of medieval combat funny. You used to think they just fought until one side won or lost, but its hilarious to think that back then one side would be like 'Do you want to take a tea break?' and the other side being like 'Yeah I could do with a cup of tea.'
It's not sterling, it's called stirling
Wow amazing quality this must have been taken 2-3 years to make.
Thank you very much! Well, technically I've been building the system used for this video for almost a year so you are almost correct! haha The video it self took me 2.5 months to make. But this is an older version of my system. If you are interested you can watch my latest video about the Battle of Crecy and see the improvements.
Just came back from the battle experience of Bannockburn in Scotland. Thank you for the exellent vidio, as it may be better than the one in the experience center. With that said, the center is still worth a go.
Glad you enjoyed it
